A Former Journalist at Business School - Experiences of a "Non-traditional" MBA Candidate

I am not your typical MBA candidate. For nearly seven years, I was a staff writer with TIME Magazine in New York City, where I covered music, culture, and entertainment. (I also worked remotely during the pandemic from a small town in the western U.S., writing about the economy and generational politics.) P1 Recap

Time is officially flying way too fast. Last week brought the end of my first "period" at INSEAD. INSEAD divides the year into five two-month "periods", each with different classes. The first two periods we complete core business classes (finance, accounting, organisational behaviour, etc). After that, we take electives. From a scheduling perspective, periods 1 and 2 (P1 and P2 respectively) are the most intense periods. After P2, the schedule is a little lighter, so everyone has time to recruit for a job.

The Intensive Language Programme At INSEAD

Even though this week is Launch Week for my MBA cohort, I’ve had the privilege of living the INSEAD MBA life for over a month now. Thanks to the Intensive Language Programme (ILP), I’ve been living in Fontainebleau (or Fonty as we call it), meeting classmates from around the world, and making incredible memories since early July.

So You Want to Live in France?

“What’s it like to live in a small French town surrounded by woods?”If you join INSEAD on its Europe campus, you will be coming to Fontainebleau. You might have been to France before or have heard some stereotypes (whether true or false) about life in France. But if you are like me, then whatever the stage you are at, the above question will be running through your head. In this post, I will try to summarise my experiences of what daily life is like in Fontainebleau when you are not studying/partying/networking/… which does happen some of the time.
