Tell us a little about yourself – both personally and professionally
On a personal note, I believe in experiencing life fully, pursuing new hobbies and self-improvement. I am a traveller, having lived, worked, and volunteered in seven countries. I embrace "change" as the only constant in my life and adaptability is my guiding principle that extends to my professional life.
Prior to INSEAD, I worked for a year at BNP Paribas Securities Services. Although during my MIM programme I considered going to consulting (like the majority of fellow students), I eventually landed an internship at Credit Suisse in Switzerland. At that time, the company was going through various hardships and its future was uncertain.
Therefore, I kept applying for jobs and landed a permanent position as a Graduate Talent Programme at UBS. Since it is a rotational programme, I can explore different parts of the bank. Shortly after joining UBS, the unexpected happened - UBS acquired Credit Suisse in the largest bank merger since 2008, showing how fate can sometimes chart a different course.
Why did you choose to pursue the INSEAD MIM?
My decision to pursue the INSEAD MIM was motivated by a desire to surround myself with ambitious individuals from diverse backgrounds.
I sought to become a part of a global and influential community known for its unwavering support. The alumni network and the studies' quality are truly unparalleled.
Any memorable moments that you are still fond of?
I cherish numerous memorable moments, thanks to the exceptional classmates I had the privilege of studying with. With my home group, humorously called "MIMstakes," (due to our propensity for making mistakes on some assignments) we forged strong bonds and enjoyed a steep learning curve together. Despite the demanding MIM schedule, I'm most grateful for the enduring connections I formed.
It’s been over a year now since you graduated from the programme, how have things been for you?
Although the path was not always smooth and rosy, I am happy where I am right now. I enjoy the pace of work and life in Switzerland, while keeping in touch with my INSEAD peers all over the world.
Has the programme helped you professionally?
I believe that the INSEAD MIM programme played an important role in my professional growth.
It has provided me with an invaluable network and access to successful and ambitious individuals. Listening to their stories and learning from their experiences was a great inspiration and shaped my career decisions. The programme's intensity served as a valuable test of my resilience, and I believe I emerged from it stronger.
What was the impact of the Career Development Centre on your professional development?
I found a great value in the practical and emotional support the CDC offered. Their guidance was invaluable in navigating the challenges of the job search process, from the application stage until the securing of the position.
Parting words of wisdom, or any advice for prospective students and would you be willing to be contacted for any more information?
Visualise where you see yourself in the coming years and then carefully map out the steps to get there. Consider multiple options, remain resilient, and don't be disheartened if one path doesn't unfold as planned; often, failure in one area unveils new opportunities. Embrace adaptability and flow with life's twists and turns, much like water. You will eventually reach your destination.
