    With tons of social, career, academic activities running in parallel during the day at INSEAD, I hardly ever have problems staying asleep at night. But on Monday January 31st, I woke up before 5 am feeling somewhat uneasy. I reached out to my phone to check if there were any news... just one, but there was one... a pretty big one too. Financial Times has placed INSEAD #1 for the second consecutive year under its “Global MBA Ranking 2017”!!

  2. Finding your own way

    It was a Tuesday afternoon at our office in Berlin. After a long call with our main provider in Latin America (a major bank) the message was clear: without a history of at least six months operating in the region, signing servicing contracts would be impossible. We had been trying to expand to a new country, hired the right people, even managed to sign new clients, but just when everything looked like a fairytale-like success, our biggest provider told us that we would need six months more to start processing locally.

  3. Raise your hand!

    One difference between MBA students at Harvard and INSEAD at graduation could be the strengths of their arms due to how often they raise their hands in the class. Today’s post will revolve around this very important topic of physical fitness. What I am really pointing at is the importance of class participation in teaching and evaluation. When I was looking at the MBA programs around the world, I learnt that Harvard Business School (HBS) teaches mainly through business cases. However, because in the end I only applied to INSEAD, I didn’t look into it much further.

  5. Diversity + Conflict = Maximimum Growth

    Welcome week. Done. Really well done. It’s Sunday night and nearly 2am. I have class in six hours, but I have an urge to sit here in silence and write. It feels like a month has gone by. Flipping through my notes from a week ago compels me to check the date again. Yep, it’s only been a week. I don’t know how I learned so much in such few days.  And yet, the most profound learning is quite simple: Conflict is the sign of life.

  6. First Impressions

    They say that first impressions last for a long time. In my case, I hope that it's true because the first impressions I have had of INSEAD in the Orientation Week have been nothing short of amazing. Overeager to start my INSEAD journey, I landed in Paris two weeks before Orientation Week to settle in and orient myself within the surroundings. Although I had taken the three-week intensive French language course a month before arriving in France, I soon found out that being in the country and attempting to speak French on the streets was a whole different ball game.

  10. A Matter Of Importance

    There is this point in time: right before the program commences and just after you have been issued your visa, or made your housing deposit, or whatever the last item on your to-do list of pre-INSEAD preparation may be. It is like the scene at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan – troops lined up on the landing ships, the air tense with anticipation for what will surely be a fierce battle; odds are the man next to you will never make it home. I exaggerate of course, but the point remains that there might be this lull in the frenetic energy that has surrounded you up to that point.
