Empowering Marginalised Communities Through Sustainable Solutions: My Remote Internship at the Optimal Greening Foundation
As an MBA intern working remotely for the Optimal Greening Foundation, I have had the incredible opportunity to contribute to the organisation's mission of delivering renewable energy and clean water access to marginalised African communities. The foundation, backed by USAID, specialises in sustainable solutions that address critical needs in rural areas.
I designed and presented a sustainability framework to the board, helping to shape the strategic direction of the foundation's long-term initiatives. This experience allowed me to combine my background in finance with a deep dive into the impact financing landscape in Africa, where I analysed various opportunities for funding the foundation's projects.
Much of my work involved strategising digital fundraising initiatives to attract donors and impact investors. By aligning the foundation's goals with the growing global interest in environmental sustainability, we aimed to enhance outreach and secure the necessary resources to expand our programmes.
This remote internship has honed my sustainability strategy skills and strengthened my passion for creating meaningful, lasting change.
I look forward to applying these insights in my future endeavours and continuing to work towards a more sustainable and equitable world.
This internship experience was supported by the INSEAD Hoffmann Institute Impact Internship Stipend and gifts from alumni.
