Bringing Together a Global Community in the Fight Against COVID-19

Facing the widespread COVID-19 pandemic, alumni of the INSEAD MBA, Global Executive MBA and Tsinghua-INSEAD Executive MBA (TIEMBA) brought together a global network to raise funds and support frontline medics in need. These actions were initiated by a few MBA alumni and endorsed by the INSEAD National Alumni Associations and TIEMBA chapters.

In January 2020, when the outbreak started in China, INSEAD MBA alumni Melissa (MBA’19D) and Andrew (MBA’19D) raised 490,000 RMB and sourced medical supplies globally to help healthcare workers in China in their battle against COVID-19.

On 11 March, the COVID-19 outbreak became severe in Italy, and two Italian alumni Noemi (MBA'18D) and Giulia (MBA'19D) initiated fundraising efforts to support hospitals in Northern Italy.

We set up a team of 20 INSEAD and TIEMBA alumni based all over the world, from Europe to China. "Project Green for Impact" is delighted to communicate that as of 6th April 2020, 403 donors have contributed EUR 62,361 which is used for purchasing and donating medical materials.

Due to many logistical challenges between China and Italy currently, except for ventilators that are shipped to hospitals directly, we decided to donate the Tyvek suits, masks and gloves we bought to the Italian Red Cross through the Italian embassy in China, maximising the use of funds and reducing the shipping time.
