We caught up with a few of them to find out what inspired them to embark on the programme amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and what dreams they have for the future.

Despite some of the challenges that COVID-19 has thrust upon the world as we know it, it still remains just as important as ever. Networking hasn’t gone away – it’s simply changed a little. It’s vital for professionals to develop career agility and adapt to new challenges, while keeping a focus on expanding your networks in a safe but effective manner.
The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated how necessary career agility is in today’s workplace. Many workers all over the world had to adapt to working from home, and with that shift, came changing relationships to their professional networks and industry goals. Other professionals needed to alter their companies’ focus, commitment, and client base, which in turn, altered their strategic plans.
After a two-year long decision-making process, I am about to embark upon a new learning and self-discovery journey starting this September. The moment that I opened the offer letter, signed by the two schools, was a real joy. I shared it with my wife, my daughter, with my parents, and with all the coaches who have helped me to be ready for this opportunity.
It was late January 2020 and I finally decided to apply to the TIEMBA programme, which also coincided with the start of the COVID pandemic. I had been researching and casually poking around the Executive MBA space for a couple of years, but now felt like it was the right time to make a commitment.
A few months ago, it would have been difficult to imagine that a pandemic would come our way, causing the whole world to stop. I imagine that this outbreak wasn’t in anyone’s plans. My first thought was to abandon all my objectives for the year, due to the uncertainty about the future.
As a senior director for a fast-growing global real estate development company, I face a much more complex environment now, than when I first started my career. I am required to tackle challenges and make strategic prescriptions to the board — decisions that have an impact on the future of the business in a context of an overall transformation of the industry. This is particularly heightened by the uncertainty the global pandemic brings to many aspects of the business, of our projects and my responsibilities.
