Could you share something unexpected about you?

One unexpected aspect about me is my genuine love for cooking, whether it be French gastronomy or cuisines from around the world. Two years ago, I dedicated a year to formal cooking training, running in parallel with my academic studies, to deepen my understanding and skills in the culinary arts.

Tell us about yourself, and how you got to where you are today both on a professional and personal level?

I was born in Germany and spent my formative years between Germany and France, cultivating a multicultural perspective. Currently in my fourth year at ESILV engineering school in Paris La Defense, I'm pursuing my studies in Data Sciences & Artificial Intelligence.

What motivated you to choose the INSEAD Summer School (ISS), and how do you envision it aligning with your future goals, even at this early stage?

I was motivated to choose the INSEAD Summer School for several reasons. Firstly, having always been immersed in a scientific curriculum, I wanted to explore the world of business, and I believed that INSEAD would be the perfect place.

My motivation was also influenced by my family's amazing experiences with INSEAD. My father, an Executive MBA alum, and my sister who participated in the programme last year, spoke highly of the enriching INSEAD experience.

The INSEAD Summer School not only provided a rich academic experience but also opened my eyes to the practices of entrepreneurship and the diverse facets of business.

These two weeks will undoubtedly influence my early-career aspirations.

Tell us about your experience on the ISS – what was a typical day like?

During my two-week business programme at INSEAD, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in a very dynamic learning experience. The programme covered a spectrum of essential business concepts, including entrepreneurship, venture creation, strategy, negotiation, leadership, and decision-making.

A typical day at the INSEAD Summer School began promptly at 8:45am with an informative presentation by Adrian Johnson, the Programme Director of the INSEAD Summer School, extending until 5pm with a lunch break in the middle.

The day alternated between lectures and collaborative group work, providing a good understanding of taught concepts. Following the afternoon sessions, we had a one-hour break, often utilised for quizzes. Then, we had another 1.5 hours session covering various topics.

The evening unfolded with a nice dinner, and was followed by either sports activities or a relaxed social gathering. This well-rounded schedule not only enhanced our academic understanding but also provided opportunities for making new real friends.

Any memorable moments that you will take back with you?

It's challenging to single out just one memorable moment from the INSEAD Summer School, but if I had to highlight one, it would be the 'Your Hundred Days' simulation.

It was in a bicycle company, where we dealt as entrepreneurs with negotiations for acquisition, strategy, manufacturing, sales, operations, and a lot of unexpected challenges.

What were your impressions of campus life?

I really enjoyed the pleasant and peaceful atmosphere of the campus that encouraged hard work. The campus offers all the essential facilities, including a small shop, a hotel, and a bar and cafeteria, enhancing its overall liveliness and convenience.

Could you share a little about your application process, and making your way to Fontainebleau?

The application process for the INSEAD Summer School was straightforward and conducted online, featuring a written essay component and oral interview questions.

Any parting words of wisdom, and are you willing to be contacted for more information by prospective students?

I am delighted to have had the opportunity to participate in the INSEAD Summer School, an experience that opened my eyes to the world with the presence of 24 different nationalities. It also allowed me to forge strong, friendships with new people from all over the world.

I would be more than happy to answer any questions or provide additional information for prospective students interested in this enriching experience.
