Diane Lanson
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Hello, I’m Diane. I’m from France, originally from Orléans, and I’ve been studying in Paris for the past three years. I’ve just completed my Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Business, and in September I’ll be starting an MSc in Marketing and Management at EDHEC Business School.
How do you feel the INSEAD Summer School is preparing you for your MSc?
It’s been a great experience. I’ve met so many people from completely different backgrounds, which is something you don’t often get in daily life.
In my MSc, I’ll also have courses in finance and computer science, not just marketing and management, so being around students with different perspectives is already helping me grow. This experience has been very enriching. It’s helped me develop both academically and personally, especially in terms of soft skills.
How are you finding Fontainebleau?
It’s a very cosy and peaceful city, perfect for relaxing between sessions. The Château is stunning, especially the gardens. It’s a lovely environment for both study and downtime.
Have you enjoyed meeting your classmates?
Absolutely.
Everyone here is easy to talk to and very open.
I’ve really appreciated the chance to meet people from so many different countries and cultures. It’s something that makes this experience truly special.
Has there been a class or moment that stood out to you?
Yes, the session with Professor Thomas Hellwig and the outdoor activities. It was early on, and we were grouped with people we didn’t know yet. The exercises really helped break the ice and brought us closer as a group. It was a different and very effective way to get to know each other, compared to simply sitting in a classroom.
Do you have any advice for someone considering the Summer School?
I’d say definitely work on your soft skills and build a strong academic and professional profile. If you’ve had internships or apprenticeships, that experience really adds value here, as you can apply what you’ve learned directly to the classes.
On a personal level, my biggest advice is to come with an open mind. Be curious, respectful, and ready to learn from others. There are so many cultures represented here, and being mindful of that really enriches the experience.
Would you be open to others contacting you on LinkedIn if they’re interested in learning more?
Absolutely. I’d be very happy to hear from people who are considering the programme and to share more about my experience.
