Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m Carol, from Brazil, and I’ve lived there my whole life. One day, I’d like to study and live abroad, maybe in Italy, maybe somewhere else. Being here at INSEAD has been a great experience for me, especially because it’s pushed me out of my comfort zone.

I’m naturally a bit shy, but this environment has encouraged me to approach new people and start conversations, and I feel like I’ve really improved at that. I studied Communications and Advertising in Brazil, at an Italian school.

Why did you choose the INSEAD Summer School?

My goal is to work in a large company where the marketing department plays a key role. I wanted to better understand how business works as a whole so that I can perform at a higher level. The more I understand the bigger picture beyond just marketing, the more confident I’ll be in my work.

Do you feel you’ve gained those skills?

Definitely. Communication has been a big focus, especially in terms of working effectively with others. One of the most useful sessions for me was on how to run meetings, because in any company, you have meetings every day.  I also learned a lot about decision-making: gathering information, analysing it, and then making a clear choice. I now see the process much more clearly, which I think will help me make better decisions in the future.

What has stood out for you the most so far?

Meeting people from so many different cultures. In Brazil, I already have similarities with Italian culture, but here I’ve also learned more about English and French cultures, two places I’ve always admired. It’s been fascinating to compare perspectives.

Any advice for someone considering the Summer School?

Go for it. Yes, it’s a significant investment, but I truly believe education is one of the best investments you can make. Often, parents are willing to support something that will have a real impact on your future.

How did you find out about it?

My godfather did his MBA at INSEAD. He mentioned it to my dad, who then suggested I think about doing my MBA here one day. While that’s still far in the future, we discovered the Summer School and thought it would be a great first step.

Do you think this experience will help you towards your MBA goal?

Yes, absolutely.

It’s given me a real sense of what studying at INSEAD is like, and I’d definitely like to come back.

If you had the chance, would you do it again?

Without hesitation. In fact, I wish I could stay for another week!
