What made you decide to do an MBA? Why the INSEAD MBA?

I don’t think you can ever hold off when it comes to investing in your future self and so, the decision of doing an MBA was a question of when, not if! Initially, the INSEAD reputation and ranking are drivers that attracted me to the school - however, when I dig deeper, there are many points that built onto why INSEAD has earned its position as the top business school globally.

Firstly, it was all about the inclusive culture of the school. There is a certain magic around INSEAD and its people, which seems unlikely considering its diversity and multi-cultural landscape. Secondly, the academic rigour that is built around ‘learning beyond textbook’ made the INSEAD learning experience relevant to real-life business situations. Lastly, INSEAD’s amazingly vast and tightly knitted network of alumni is something I want to be a part of. It’s a community of high-performing individuals leveraging each other with the same mission of leveraging business as a force for good.

Is INSEAD what you had expected so far?

INSEAD has been an experience exceeding all expectations: from the academic intensity, quality of the cohort and depth of learning, it has ticked all the right boxes. More importantly, it has taken me out of my comfort zone and helped me explore what kind of person I could become in the future – to reassess and work on my weakness and leverage my strength for future professional and personal interactions. Although I am only a couple of months into the programme, I have felt my life has changed through the INSEAD experience.

Can you describe what is the INSEAD diversity all about?

A cultural melting pot of individuals with different professional and personal background. It truly is an experience like no other. Whether it be a more formal setting like a classroom discussion or, a quiet night over a glass of wine in the kitchen of one your classmates, you always find yourself pleasantly challenged and learning something new about the way others view the world. It is a pleasant experience to know that despite the differences in culture and points of view, there is the unspoken rule of respect towards each other.

What is your class experience like?

When you mix individuals from different background and contrasting professional experiences, you’re bound to get a rich discussion at every turn of class interaction. What amazes me most about INSEAD is that the teaching faculty understood the strength of such diversity and facilitate rich discussions that allowed us to learn from each other.

More importantly, classes draw examples from a real business situation that take the learnings beyond the textbook. Every class feels like a new journey that puts you in the seats of top business leaders and allows you to see the practical implication of your learnings in a real life situation. Be it simulation, games or role plays, I look forward to every class at INSEAD.

What is your PLDP experience like?

When you are in an intense 10-month programme that focuses heavily on careers, academics, and social interactions, it is easy to forget to slow down and reflect on the journey so far. The PDLP is an important tool that holds a mirror in front of you and asks if you have progressed in those dimensions through the INSEAD experience. The PDLP experience is truly a journey to define the business leader I want to become in future.

Where do you see yourself 10 years down the road?

I see myself continuing down the path of making a visible impact on the business landscape - whether it would be in a leadership position in an international consulting firm or leading the strategic direction of large multinationals.

What is one important takeaway you have gotten from your INSEAD experience so far?

Realising there are only 24 hours in a day and that you cannot be at two places spontaneously. There are so many amazing and wonderful things that INSEAD has to offer, and it is impossible to have everything on your plate. The INSEAD experience has taught me the importance of prioritising my goals and made me constantly reassess about what I truly want from the year ahead. It has also taught me the importance of efficient time management! Otherwise, be prepared to function with less than six hours of sleep and a constant supply of extra shot lattes (sometimes unavoidable).
