Could you share something unexpected or a fun fact about you?

A fun nod to history: my family, the Obolenskys, are descendants of Russian royalty. My father actually holds the title of Prince, though I’m still waiting for my castle!

Tell us about yourself, and how you got to where you are today, both on a professional and personal level?

I have a truly international DNA. I was born in London, raised between Bermuda and the USA, studied in Scotland and Paris, and have since worked across London, New York and Singapore. This upbringing instilled a mindset early on that the world is small and should be explored to the fullest.

Professionally, I’ve never been rigid about a 'five-year plan.' Instead, I focus on seizing opportunities as they arise. This philosophy of living in the moment has led my career and my life, through unexpected twists and turns, all of which have been incredible learning experiences that brought me to where I am today.

What led you to decide to pursue an Executive MBA, and why did you choose INSEAD in particular?

Given my background, INSEAD was the natural choice; it is the 'Business School for the World,' after all. My sister is an alumna and has always spoken highly of the impact it had on her career. I also knew I needed an in-person experience. I place a huge value on face-to-face interaction and the energy of a classroom, which you simply can’t replicate virtually. Finding myself living in Singapore, right on the doorstep of the Asia campus, felt like the stars aligning. I honestly didn’t apply anywhere else!

How would you describe your experience so far? What is your impression of the faculty, the curriculum, and your fellow participants?

It has been genuinely life-changing. Module 1 was admittedly a shock to the system, but by Module 4, the rhythm had shifted completely. I now find myself counting down the days until I’m back on campus.

The faculty is incredible. It is a privilege to pause our busy lives and fully immerse ourselves in these topics.

The learning curve is steep, and going from zero to exam-ready in a few days is exhilarating. But the highlight is the cohort:  being surrounded by such diverse, high-calibre professionals pushes you to be better.   Not only are they amazing in the classroom, but they have also become lifelong friends already.

Can you share a little about your application process and what you found most helpful and challenging during your preparation?

The process was very efficient. Since I was laser-focused on INSEAD and didn't apply elsewhere, I poured my energy into the INSEAD Assessment. I certainly had to brush up on my maths; it had been a while since I’d touched algebra, but with the resources available online, it was manageable. The admissions team was supportive throughout, making the logistics straightforward.

What advice would you give to someone who might be interested in pursuing an INSEAD programme?

Just DO IT. It is a significant commitment, but the return on investment, personally and professionally, is immediate. You will not regret it.
