So, Hiro, what made you decide to take on the EMC programme at INSEAD?

I chose this programme for three reasons: first, I thought I would learn the connection between personal and organisational transformation; second, I thought I would be able to treat the organisation as one life; and third, I had a hunch.

I just happened to move into a condo right in front of INSEAD. I followed that coincidence and my intuition.

Has the programme met or exceeded your expectations?

Yes, I am fully satisfied with the programme.

The content can be learned by reading books, but I am learning a lot from my classmates and professors from all over the world.

I am also deepening my introspection through the programme.

Do share with us your thoughts on the quality of the professors, the curriculum, and your classroom experiences so far

This is a programme that I feel has evolved over the years. The participants have a lot of experience in their respective fields and come from diverse backgrounds, so there is a lot to learn from each other.

How has the EMC changed your perspectives or outlook towards life?

We have come to focus more on psychology than on function, both for individuals and for organisations. Emotions are the most important thing for people. I would like to handle the emotions of organisations with care.

Have you seen any career changes since you started the programme?

During the programme, I established a company by spinning off a business unit, and I am running the new company as a business owner, not as a CEO. This is a big change in my work style.

What advice would you give to potential EMC participants?

I think you should trust your gut and decide to take the course. Emotions are more important than logic.
