It should feel like the norm to see an ambitious woman in the workplace.
I have varied personal and professional interests, which reflect my genuine curiosity for learning and are supplemented by my avid reading. I never had a particular interest in predetermining my professional path.
As I navigate the bends of my career journey (moving to New York, deciding against law, moving to Europe, choosing a tech start-up), I use my guiding compass of intellectual stimulation, playfulness, and excitement. Life is supposed to be surprising, beautiful, and interesting; I try to lean into this both personally and professionally.
How do you see yourself contributing to breaking down gender barriers in your industry?
I see myself organising networking for women, questioning discourse around gendered competency, and hiring intelligent, spectacular women to break down gender barriers in tech.
I also hope to convince everyone to read Virginia Woolf.
What steps do you think organisations can take to support young professionals in advancing gender equity?
Organisations could support advancement in gender equity by creating a work environment with gender parity, avoiding special treatment to any gender, implementing a zero-tolerance policy for gender-based discrimination, and hiring women in leadership positions.
There should be a path to senior leadership for every person in every company.
