After graduation, I spent a year working as a teaching assistant at EHL, teaching subjects including Hotel Asset Management, Private Equity & Venture Capital, and Hotel Development & Planning. I am currently exploring opportunities in the hotel asset management industry, with the potential to transition into the art sector in the future and ultimately pursue a role within an NGO.
"Gender equity is not merely about achieving a 50-50 split of men and women in the workplace; It is about ensuring equal opportunities for all genders."
Can you share an experience where a leader or colleague inspired you about this topic?
My mother’s dedication to her career, coupled with her shared responsibilities in caregiving alongside my father, serves as a constant reminder that household and family duties should be equitably distributed between partners.I find it difficult to pinpoint a single defining experience, as I am continually inspired by individuals and societal developments regarding gender equity.
Additionally, observing the evolution of the fashion and art industries highlights a shift towards greater gender neutrality.
Clothing styles are increasingly breaking away from traditional gender norms, allowing individuals to express themselves authentically rather than being confined by societal expectations of gender. Similarly, the growing acceptance of skincare and makeup as gender-inclusive further reflects the broader movement towards equity and self-expression.
Simultaneously, I aim to promote a safe and open working environment where individuals feel empowered to discuss and address gender-related topics.
What steps can organisations take to support young professionals in advancing gender equity?
When addressing gender equity within organisations, I firmly believe that the foundation lies in education and raising awareness.
It is essential to influence employees by fostering a deep understanding of gender equity and equipping them with the knowledge and tools to actively contribute to meaningful change. Additionally, organisations should extend their commitment beyond internal initiatives by providing internship and job opportunities to individuals from less privileged backgrounds, ensuring a more inclusive and equitable workforce.
