So, what made you decide to take on the EMC programme at INSEAD?

Ever since I was a child, I have always had an interest in psychology. Over the years, it has been a personal goal to better understand why people react and behave the way they do in the face of change. In my current profession, business and sales results are closely entwined with the ability to perceive and interpret human behaviour.

The ability to connect with people and to help them through the process of change is of paramount importance to a successful project.

As change constantly impacts our day-to-day activities, understanding the psychology behind our reactions to change can help to make it easier to accept. This is what I like the most about this programme: the psychological component. When people understand change, that’s when they are more likely to be on-board with new ideas, to adhere to new processes, and eventually, to begin to promote a new way of working. As I was reviewing the EMC brochure, I had this “aha” moment – I felt like this programme was designed for me. I was sold.

Has the programme met or exceeded your expectations?

So far, the programme has exceeded my expectations. I am currently working towards module 4, keeping up with the readings. There is a lot to learn and to practice. This is just the beginning of a journey that goes far beyond the completion of the programme.

Do share with us your thoughts on the quality of the professors, the curriculum, and your classroom experiences so far

The professors are remarkable, and experts in their field.

The modules build on each other through readings, essays, practicums, and group case discussions. It is not just a transfer of knowledge; rather, it is an interactive and guided experiential learning programme. I have learned a lot about myself throughout the modules, but also during our group discussions on campus. I find it fascinating!

Do you foresee the EMC changing your perspectives or outlook towards life?

Definitely yes. The EMC helps to make sense of some aspects of my inner theatre, peeling the onion, layer after layer. My perspective towards life is changing, as I evolve and progress in my journey towards self-mastery.

What advice would you give to potential EMC participants?

Start the process now. Start to write your application essays, as this is the beginning of the self-reflection experience. Speak to someone in charge of the programme at INSEAD. Enjoy every minute!
