In August 2022 we welcomed the new Master in Management (MIM) Class of 2023 on the INSEAD Fontainebleau campus. As the restrictions from the pandemic have eased, it has been an especially joyful start of the academic year at the Business School for the World, and our MIM students dove right into the whirl of studies, clubs and career development activities.
The INSEAD MIM is more than a programme, it is a journey that starts with who you are, and leads to what you want to achieve.
Read on below for some key statistics of this intake, and meet some members of this class.
"I firmly believe in our motto 'Business as a Force for Good'."
Alexandre Chechelaky
Master of Engineering
INSA Lyon
Brazilian
"I firmly believe in our motto 'Business as a Force for Good', says Alexandre. "As future business leaders, it is our responsibility to ensure that all our decisions help to build a better world."
After the INSEAD MIM, he aspires to join the consulting or corporate sector in Brazil or Europe, and leverage his business and engineering background for international projects that will positively impact society, such as developing new technologies, improving education, and preserving the environment.
"Without a doubt, my strongest impression so far is of commitment. All ideas are put into action, and there is a battalion of MIMs ready to contribute to each initiative: clubs, societal initiatives, tutoring sessions, sports, and parties", he says.
"I applied to INSEAD specifically because of the diverse and international environment."
Yuko May
Bachelor of Science, Psychology
King's College London
German
"Besides politics, I believe that businesses are the one thing that can drive great change in the world - which is why I want to work in a business setting, preferably in startups or VCs", says May.
"As my background is only in psychology, I knew I needed to gain a better understanding of how businesses are run. This led me to look into MIMs.
I applied to INSEAD specifically because of the diverse and international environment, which reflected the type of setting I want to work in in the future", she says.
"I have had a very positive experience so far, especially thanks to the support you get from your coursemates, the faculty, and staff," shares Yuko. "This was one of my first impressions - everyone is so approachable and open. Also, coming from a non-business background, I have learnt so much already in the first month!"
"One of the biggest appeals is that entrepreneurship is both taught and experienced through INSEAD's action-based learning approach."
Divyanshu Gupta
Bachelor of Commerce
Delhi University
Indian
Before joining INSEAD, Divyanshu pursued internships across different industries and roles to complement his undergraduate degree and gain a holistic view of the different areas of a business's value chain.
"One such formative experience was working with the United Nations in my senior year", he shares.
He also has a keen interest in entrepreneurship and has spent a year as a freelance branding and marketing professional, helping brands and entrepreneurs convey their ideas through content and storytelling.
"For me, one of the biggest appeals of the INSEAD MIM programme is that entrepreneurship is both taught and experienced through INSEAD's action-based learning approach. I'm particularly excited to participate in opportunities like the INSEAD Venture Competition and Startup Bootcamp, where I will be challenged to deliver targeted solutions, learn from my teammates' diverse perspectives, and test my entrepreneurial mettle", he says.
"I have never met such selfless, kind and genuine people than at INSEAD."
Lisa Raphael
Bachelor, International Economics and Management
Università Bocconi
French, Lebanese, Danish
Lisa, who joined INSEAD directly after graduating from Bocconi University, plans to seek a position in finance once she completes her degree at INSEAD.
"One of the core values that INSEAD teaches you is how to operate in teams and how to act as a leader, and these are qualities that I believe you will keep with you for the rest of your life and are the key to success", she shares.
"INSEAD is intense, but this is why I love it. I have learned so much in a month, and I am not talking about academics only (of course that too!)"
Lisa is looking forward to spend a few months at the INSEAD Singapore campus which she feels is going to be a life-changing experience.
"I also want to mention that I have never met such selfless, kind and genuine people than at INSEAD. You genuinely are never alone, and you get all the support you need!", she says.
