#31 - Insights Into the Universe of INSEAD’s Student Clubs - Student Life Feature

In Episode 31 we discuss the universe of INSEAD's student clubs which are run by students and supported by the school. They play a vital role in the student experience. Our clubs cover a broad range of topics from professional, social to sports. A large proportion of the student population is honing their leadership skills by being in the management team of clubs. There are 40+ clubs at INSEAD. 

My MIM Journey: When Plans Change, You Need to Adapt

While I was nearing the end of the penultimate semester of my bachelor’s degree in early 2020, I was starting to plan my next steps. Write my bachelor thesis, finish my degree by late summer and then start an internship as a first step towards securing an entry-level position. After that I was planning to work for a few years and then maybe start an MBA. At least, that was the idea.

A Toddler, A Pregnancy, and INSEAD

When I got accepted into INSEAD the first reaction I got when I told people, was “Who will take care of your child?” instead of “Congratulations! You can do it”. Then when I found out I was pregnant, and I chose not to defer, I was told all sorts of things, like “Think about your child, this is an impossible task, you cannot raise a toddler and be pregnant and do such an intense MBA, stop thinking you can do it all”.

It is so intangible and abstract just like the air, yet such an incredibly critical force that holds ambitious endeavours together like gravity.  Learnings about leadership are so embedded in the INSEAD experience that when I reflect back on my one-year MBA journey, I feel pleasantly surprised by the new leadership wisdom and capability I have developed.
