MBA programs, or B-schools, have negative connotations when it comes to maintaining personal relationships. However this is rarely the case, and most of the time it is quite the opposite. The potentials of personal and professional rewards as a Partner can be tremendous – and I am not the only one attesting to that. If you or your significant other is considering to venture into the B-school bubble, I would look at some prep steps to ensure you not only make it through the MBA experience smoothly, but happily too. I can't believe it's been more than a month since I started at INSEAD! Time is flying, work is piling up, and social events are getting more and more fun/frequent (parties, BBQ's, trips across South East Asia, cocktails, company presentations, etc.). Speaking of company events, it is incredible to witness what the strong name of INSEAD can attract to our Singapore campus.

As Cyl’s Renault Megane rolls off into the resilient winter dawn, I feel a sour mix of gratitude and despair. His job is done and very effectively so. The cab ride from Paris to Fontainebleau had taken just over an hour. I arrive 15 minutes too early for the meeting with my new landlord, Jeremy; 30 minutes too early as I am soon to learn. Turns out African time is not so African after all.

When describing the curriculum of my MBA program to my friends and family, many were surprised to learn that the program itself is actually ten months, with a two-month summer break for the classes with January starts (July graduates do not have an extended break). In the months leading-up to my year at INSEAD I had assumed that almost all of the MBA participants spent the summer working; however, only 62% of the Class of 15D chose this option.

INSEAD attracts many types of students. Amongst them, a good number of admitted students (about 10-15%) are ‘sponsored’ students. These are students whose MBA is funded by their employers with the understanding that they would return back to the sponsoring companies. As someone who was sponsored and just completed his MBA, I would like to share why I think INSEAD is a fantastic choice for sponsored MBA students.
